I’ve always been drawn to Mary Meyer‘s graphic use of prints, especially those playing on the idea of cutouts and negative space.         This tent dress is no exception and I’ve been happily jaunting in it ever since it’s come into my possession.  The MM Fall 2012 collection encompasses a good mix of easy basics (a printed tee, a shift dress), mixed with more specialty pieces, my favorites include a degrade hem skater dress and window pane leggings.  Her customized prints are unique, not too serious and fun to wear. Can’t you tell?

SUPER

Super Duper.

NYR #4

Print Attack: There is not a single print stirring in my closet (stripes, plaid and polka dot do not count), which leads to NYR #4: Track down a fantastic printed piece.  This Olivia Rubin frock drew me in with its shark fins and waves.  I’ve always had an affinity for the fearsome creatures.  The playful theme sets in nicely with the more adult button-up dress.

I’d love for my special print piece to be a canvas.  This Rothko inspired Hanii Y dress is pretty without being dainty.  Available at shopbop.com.

Print and design work together in this rusted Proenza Schouler top.  Can you believe those shoulders?  The structured silhouette and muted colors appeal to my taste.  Available at eluxury.com.

Traditional textiles should always have a chance to serve in print form.  Oscar de la Renta uses tweed to inspire this printed cocktail number.  Isn’t the sunburst orange and turquoise a bold combination?  Available at netaporter.com.
