necessary roughness

I now own two Junya pieces including this bomber jacket and I’m happy, but not satisfied.  To tell you the truth, all my specialty purchases end up being safely tucked away in my drawer or hanging in my closet.  All I can think about are the horrible things that could happen while wearing something out . . . the mesh on my new bomber could rip, my knit dress could get a snag, my bright white shirt dress could get a stain . . . it goes on, and on and on.  It’s such a MAJOR bummer and I’m fed up already!

So, slowly I’m going to reintegrate my special loves into my daily life.  Rips can be mended, snags can be knotted and stains can be washed out.  As long as I remember that, everything will be alright.

Hold It

After seeing all the neon effect necklaces out and about I couldn’t help desiring a little rhinestone sparkle in my life.  I found a great vintage piece and was going for more of a Margiela powder coat, but had to scratch the idea due to possible poisonous side effects.  I ended up going with my original plan, which just proves you should always stick with your first instincts.

Moustache Man and I have been cruising the city for our latest photo sets.  I’m happy to say that we’ve found some great spots around my old internship stomping grounds bringing back fond memories of the burrito truck, diaper photo shoots and general footwear design genius.  More later.

well, howdy

This pleated chiffon scrap had been sitting in my pile of to be continued . . . projects for a few weeks now.  I knew what I wanted to make, but needed to let the idea stew for a bit.  I was inspired by my unconditional skirt trousers from a while back.  Even though they’re my favorite trousers, I found myself craving something that was a little more versatile, something I could wear over dresses, skirts, pants and of course tuck my revolver into.

technical difficulties

I think it’s your carburetor.

Moustache Man calls this my mechanic suit.  Funnily enough, it makes me think more of Elvis even though his jumpsuits are of a different nature.

The best thing about working in fashion is getting to take home samples.  I picked this jumpsuit out of the giveaway box.  It was a couple sizes too big, but after a few nips, tucks and dandy vintage buttons I’ve made it my own.  I think it’s the most loose fitting thing in my closet.  It’ll take some getting used to especially because I have an immense aversion to wearing clothes that are too big (I mean without any purpose).  I attribute it to my mom buying me XXL clothes when I was a kid.  I mean how much growing could a 9-year-old possibly do??
