Desaturation

Ribcage was a look styled tight on the top and loose at the bottom.  Here’s the reverse.  When I first wanted to make a leather skirt, Moustache Man was doubtful.  “Won’t it look like a Whitesnake video?”  I didn”t even know what that meant.  But I made it anyway and the fact that I’ve worn it more than five times is quite a feat.  As for you similarly non pop-cultured folks, a Whitesnake video = long haired singer + sexy girl in mini.  Well, what’s wrong with that (except for the long haired singer)?

Ribcage

My ribcage has been keen on showcasing itself.  Unfortunately, my belly button is fat.  So the simple conclusion was that I needed a crop top.  Enter my knight in silky Loeffler Randall.   This Opening Ceremony bustier has everything I want in a crop top: comfort, unique details, and versatility.  I paired it with every high-waisted item in my closet, but liked this one the best.  I think the movement of the umbrella skirt juxtaposes nicely with the body-con nature of the top.  Thanks twentythirtyforty.net!  You saved my belly button from shame.

Heartbreak Kid

One of my oldest friends has a bun in the oven and I can’t help but explore options for the little tyke’s future wardrobe.  My absolute favorite in kidswear is Phillip Lim.  His clothes are mini-me replicas of his women’s ready-to-wear collection.  And who could not fall in love with the delightful model, Ming (Lim’s partner’s daughter)?  She certainly has pizazz.  Unfortunately, little baby Evan won’t be seeing any 3.1 in the near future.  But not to worry, auntie xs will find him something just as good.

Blue Belle

I try to avoid following the flock of fads churned out every season,  but I like the tights under shorts look that’s reemerged.  Something about the layering transforms the denim shorts from young-casual into sophisticated-cool.  The top is a Phillip Lim men’s tee.  I love the drapey pocket and loose fit.  Can you tell I enjoy playing with different shapes?

Kudos Mr. Lim

Speaking of Phillip Lim, here’s a look that is strictly 3.1.  I fell in love with this rosebud turtleneck and matched it with his umbrella skirt.  If you like what you see, you can view more pics.
