The Bard of Belts

derek lam corset dress set

I was away for a wedding this past weekend and this Derek Lam corset dress was a close contender in making an appearance.  Even though it didn’t make the cut, I thought it deserved a post.  Once again I need your advice.  Please proceed.

derek lam corset dress

This dress per the Fall 2007 collection was originally styled with a belt . . .

no frills

but doesn’t it look sleek without any fanfare?  To belt or not to belt?  That is the question.

It’s good to be back.  Stay tuned for the winning wedding pick, a new haircut and special vintage find . . .

Ooh! How exciting! Looking forward to the ‘next installment on extraskinny”…

re: dress, GORGEOUS! I must admit I’m partial to it with the belt, and wouldn’t be restricted to just black 😉 (although it’s perfect with black), I like colour blocking (to funk it up), or with a white/red striped belt (for nautical look), a patent (add some texture), anything really!

I’m in love with your dress! I just pictured it with a few blouses/shirts/tees, ooh! How I’d love to play in your wardrobe 😉

I am in love with your blog! You’re so lucky to have a real photographer boyfriend, and from the looks of things, some photoshop experience! How did you get your pictures to look so cool? (Aside from having the loveliest long legs that just make you look SO modelesque)?

    modejunkie says:

i think with the belt looks best with the ankle boots. it looks badass like that.
however if you decide to wear it with some classic pumps, then i think without the belt.
i am excited on the next post. :)

100% without the belt–it’s so classic and chic, without the belt really showcases that! To be honest though, you’re rocking them both!

And for the dress (GORGEOUS) it looks great with the belt, but I think the statement is stronger wihtout it. The waist is marked anyways, so you still look very XS in it !! Enjoy ! xxx
